Audiograms Tips and Tricks
Preparation:
- Equipment Check: Ensure your audiometer, headphones, and testing environment are in good working condition.
- Familiarize Yourself: Understand the audiometer controls and software you'll be using.
- Test: Run a short test 1 - 3 frequencies on yourself to make sure the equipment is working properly.
Environment:
- Quiet Room: Conduct the test in a quiet (meets Maximum Permissible Ambient Noise Level standards) environment to minimize external noise interference.
- Free from distractions: remove any distractions from the room like cell phones or conference phones.
- Quiet Please: place a quiet please sign on the door, if needed.
Employee Preparation:
- Explain the Procedure: Briefly explain the test to the patient to alleviate any anxiety. See here for test instructions.
- Comfortable Seating: Ensure the patient is comfortable and seated properly during the test.
After the test
